Really great context setting for the day

9 9 9 9

Good questions and workshop aspect of discussion, given the lack of published guidance at the point of conference

10 10

Great to see and discuss real-life examples of ICS journeys

10 10 8 7

Bit too complicated and specific but stimulated some great discussion

8 8 9

More co-ordination between the questions asked in the workshops to ensure the discussion was captured

More events like this please as ICS develop and new guidance is released

It would be interesting and useful to understand any barriers experienced and how these were overcome with these discussions

9 7 5 5 6

Considering there was discussion around LCRN involvement with the ICBs/ICSs, unless a separate session is being held with them, it might have been useful to have had the LCRNs attend to make the discussion truly collaborative

Certainly, how the research and regulatory/governance landscape is going to change as a result of the multidisciplinary and 3rd party involvement in patient pathways.

The problem as I see it is we know there will be changes, we just don’t know when and what so important to keep discussion channels open

For generic training, might be useful to have a session covering MIA

Really enjoyed the presentations, particularly in the morning, great to have all the ‘agencies’ represented that will influence the direction of the ICS – DHSC, NHSE etc

10 10 10 10

Really helpful to feel that our feedback may influence guidance and policy

10 10

Great to hear the different examples that are emerging

8 8

Good discussion, just emphasised how all the different elements of the research landscape are trying to fit with the new NHS landscape ie ICS. Really interesting to hear from colleagues how different their CRNs responses have been.

10 10

Really interesting to hear how the HRA are developing their thinking and again feeling able to influence this.

n/a as had to leave slightly early

10

More engagement with emerging guidance, ability to discuss key topics such as ‘what is a research site’, and engagement with key decisions so the impact in delivery can be worked through

Very helpful to hear about the different approaches taken by ICS’s to embedding research in their structures.

9 9 9 9

This session threw up more questions than it answered. Clear direction from the HRA on legal aspects, such as indemnity, would be welcome.

10

None – all were very informative and useful. The event was well organised and gave us good opportunity to discuss research and engagement with ICS’s in our groups. We are at the beginning of a long journey.

Another session in, say, a year’s time to review progress, talk about challenges and successes would be useful.

None at this point.

More of the sme but with developments please. I’d like to hear from ICB and ICP chairs as to their views experiences and what made them prioritise

None

I am a scientist and research lead for my NHS department. In general I was hoping for more clarity on how the ICS structures would impact research, and how the wider structures would help researchers and institutions work together more easily with less admin/beurocracy. I was hoping with the new ICSs there would be a way to share data more easily already in place. I don’t think anyone knows how it will work yet and I didn’t feel that I could provide any useful input to the sessions where people were trying to work this out. So the day was not that useful, but the overviews at the start were relevant and I had some useful conversations in the breaks.

For me I enjoyed the whole day and absorbed the knowledge in the presentations

10 10

Well presented overview

10 10

Reflective discussion with input from HRA, IRB and NHS England representatives gave breadth to the presentation

10 10

Good solid presentation evoking group discussiom

10 10

Excellent session

10 10

Interesting to see how the CRN views contrasted with IRB / Trust views. Has given me some questions to take back to my CRN

10 10

Very thought provoking and good to hear the HRA listening to those on the ground

10 10

Good summaries

I found it invaluable.

10 10

Interesting and good to see how much work that there is still to do!

10 10

Concerned that there is very little clarity and that there is a real risk of multiple processes evolving across the whole system making things confusing for researchers once again.

10 10

Really good to see the work that’s already started. Will be linking with others to get ideas.

10 10

There appears to be a desire to work together from a national perspective. This doesn’t correlate on a local level.

10 10

Very interesting and thought provoking. I hope that the opportunity to make radical changes is taken.

10 10 10

Wasn’t sure what to expect so it definitely surpassed my expectations.

Don’t throw the baby out with the bath water! learn from history. Provide clarity and guidance with more of a mandated approach.

8 10

A good ‘setting the scene’ introduction to the day.

9 10 7 10

Good to hear of the legal duties of the ICBs in relation to research

8 10

Provided a great opportunity to share regional models and initiatives, provided a sense of what is going on elsewhere

6 8

I work for the CRN so a lot of the content was already known. I’m not sure if the take home message from this session was too clear.

7 7

The complexities of ‘what is a research site’ and the different interpretations and scenarios were made abundantly clear and raised some interesting discussions. The opportunity for the R&I community to feedback to the HRA on what we need support with/backing with was key in this session (i.e. the role the HRA can play in giving less research experienced areas, local authorities, care homes etc…, the assurances they need to undertake research.

8 9

The plenary sessions generated lots of useful discussions and provided the chance to hear and network with colleagues from other organisations. I would have liked the opportunity to move tables/groups however to be able to broaden the conversations further and network with a larger number of people during the day.

9

Nothing further to note beyond the comments provided above.

An opportunity to share best practice in how research is being embedded at a ICS level, to be able to hear from different regions. Equally a chance to come together and discuss key challenges and potential solutions.

Nothing particularly comes to mind.
