NEW Free Online Course ‘What is Health Research?’

Date: 1 November 2019

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Clinical Research Network (CRN) has launched a new online course ‘What is Health Research?’

The course is a Massive Open Online Course, or MOOC, and has been been designed in collaboration with the University of Leeds Digital Education Service and Futurelearn.

Learners will discover how research is improving health care; find out what’s involved in health research, bust the common myths surrounding health research and explore ways to get involved and how people. They will hear from people who have taken part in research, learn why they volunteered and the difference it can make.

John Castledine, Head of Learning and Development at NIHR CRN, said:

“We are very excited to launch our new online course ‘What is Health Research?’. Everyone should be given both the opportunity to take part in research and to make decisions, which are right for them when choosing whether or not to join a study.

“Education is a very powerful tool and the online format of this course ensures everyone can have access to great learning and the insights we have collected from research participants, patients, the public and researchers. Learning about health research has never been easier.”

The course lasts three weeks and learners can complete the course at their own pace.

‘What is Health Research?’ starts on the 11 November.
