Date: 27 January 2020
From 01 April 2020, NHS sponsors and co-sponsors of Phase I-III oncology CTIMPs and Phase III non-oncology CTIMPs will be expected to submit their studies for review through the Pharmacy Assurance process, specifically the Self-managed route. Non-NHS sponsors can still submit through Pharmacy Assurance; we remain open to the aforementioned CTIMPs. Further information is available on our website.

The Health Research Authority (HRA) has an ongoing commitment to streamline research governance and processes. The Pharmacy Assurance process coordinates a standardised single technical pharmacy review for eligible studies across the UK. The completed review can be used by all participating NHS/HSC sites to support local capacity and capability assessments and study set up in their pharmacy departments.
To support this phase Pharmacy Assurance becoming a component of HRA and HCRW Approval, the HRA is running a series of workshops across England.
The workshops are free and there will be two sessions running each day. The morning workshops will focus on the changes and implications for pharmacists and pharmacy technicians working in clinical trials. The afternoon sessions will focus on the requirements and implications for NHS sponsors/co-sponsors and R&D/I staff. Please note pharmacy staff attending the morning sessions may be able to use this as evidence towards their Clinical Professional Development (CPD) portfolio.
