Participant in Research Experience Survey (PRES): Digital Rollout and Inclusive Delivery

The NIHR Research Delivery Network (RDN) is transitioning to a digital-first approach for delivering the Participant in Research Experience Survey (PRES). This new platform streamlines the way we gather and use feedback from research participants and is being introduced across all 12 Regional Research Delivery Networks (RRDNs).
Early adopter regions will begin onboarding in June 2025, supported by a coordinated plan from the RDN Coordinating Centre’s Public Partnerships team. The programme includes structured check-ins, demo sessions, and tailored guidance for both digital and paper-based survey delivery. A national onboarding framework, bite-sized learning materials, and updated privacy resources have been developed with input from early adopters.
Alongside the digital platform, guidance is being developed for paper PRES completion and local data entry. This ensures PRES remains accessible for all participants, including those who prefer or require non-digital options.
The Public Partnerships team continues to work closely with PRES leads, delivery organisations, and public partners to ensure inclusive, practical implementation across all regions. Feedback gathered during this early rollout phase will inform future resource development and support national consistency.
