Three outputs from UK Commercial Costing Reference Group Spring meeting
Date: 20 April 2024
Agreed annual uplifts to the UK interactive Costing Tool for financial year 24/25
- Pay rates will be increased by 3% and an inflation rate of 4% will be added to non pay items. These are based on estimated values and will be reviewed upon confirmation of rates in late spring/early summer.
- Research Market Forces Factor percentages remain in control for the individual NHS organisation in England (with support from their local network) or the Devolved Administration offices to revise as required. A similar factor is being considered for Primary Care providers in support of the voluntary sign up scheme for no local negotiation of prices beyond the lead site review.
Confirmed the UK community of practice makes recommendations for consistency
- NCVR champions are now leading the 500 member UK community of practice for health and care staff involved in commercial costings. These champions are leading the way in collating recommendations and reaching consensus for the national review approach. Data value, format and functionality recommendations will now be put to the UK commercial costing reference group, who will schedule topic specific sessions to hear and endorse the recommendations in support of UK wide consistency to study resource reviews.
Work to upgrade the digital system for the UK interactive Costing Tool is underway
- The UK interactive Costing Tool was built in 2018 and an upgrade of the technology supporting this is being explored with the support of the NIHR Digital Office. Look out for invites to show and tell sessions or user testing later this year to get involved in shaping the new system.
System data updates for iCT, including NHS employers costs and inflation will be made W/C 22nd April 2024.
