HRA update: Updated GDPR Transparency Wording Template for all sponsors
Date: 24 October 2024
To help ensure research participants have all the information they need to make an informed decision about the use of their data the HRA has developed a series of GDPR templates that they recommend sponsors use.
The HRA have updated their GDPR Transparency Wording Template to bring it in line with the our new Participant Information Quality Standards and the Four Principles for meaningful involvement of patients and the public in health and social care research.
The changes to the template include more detailed information on how data is handled when it is sent abroad, as this was considered more important by members of the public than it was in 2018, and more detailed information on Data Subjects’ rights when their data is used in research.
The HRA’s Participant Information Quality Standards have also been updated with the removal of the standalone process for evidencing public involvement in the development of sponsor bespoke GDPR statements.
The new GDPR Transparency Wording Template is available to use in England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
