RDN Transformation Survey: how can the RDN best support sponsors and researchers

Date: 13 February 2025

Dear Colleagues,

We have been invited to complete another survey on the RDN transformation process, this one on how the RDN can best support sponsors and researchers in delivering studies more efficiently, leverage novel delivery methods, and support the UK’s Life Sciences vision and strategy for economic growth. We would like to extend this opportunity to feedback to the whole R&D community. You can do this by completing the survey (see link) by 5pm Thursday 27th February. As with the previous survey, we will submit all responses to RDNCC but also collate themes and use these in future meetings we are invited to attend.

Please note that we are setting a slightly longer timeframe for responses than you will see on the following documents from the RDN to allow for the fact that it is school half term season. Browse: Summary Of Users Needs, RDN Strategy Development Stakeholder Engagement Consultation Document, RDN Stakeholder Engagement Brief.

In the interests of speed we will be using an AI tool to support us in producing the thematic summary of the responses to the survey. No individual’s names, organisation names or contact details will be used in the AI tool and none of the text we feed into the tool will be attributable to individual respondents. Using an AI tool will also mean that we will be able to produce a summary of responses in time for the UKRD Summit on 4th/5th March.

In advance of completing the survey you may wish to watch the next RDN video (about 20 minutes) [Early views on support for sponsors and investigators]

As with the previous RDN survey, which many of you responded to, we are trying to use this process to meaningfully engage, influence and support future RDN developments. Your responses to the last survey enabled us to generate a very helpful summary of key points which we shared with RDN leadership and cascaded widely across the R&D community.

Regards,

Angela Topping (R&D Forum), Saul Faust (UHA), Nick McNally (UKRD), Julian Walker (UKRD)
