HRA UPDATE: Update to ‘amendment’ terminology for non-CTIMPs

Date: 24 April 2026

From 28 April 2026, the HRA will no longer use the term ‘amendment’ for changes to approved non-CTIMP studies. Instead, they’ll be referred to as ‘modifications’.

This is to align with changes to clinical trials of investigational medicinal products (CTIMPs) when updated clinical trials regulations come into effect on 28 April 2026 and to promote consistency across all UK clinical research.
