NIHR Annual Report 2025/26

The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) has today published its Annual Report for 2025/26. It highlights 2 decades of transforming the health and social care research landscape.
In 2025/26, the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) invested £1.7 billion in health and care research through the NIHR. This represents a 5% (£84 million) increase compared to the previous year. This investment continues to drive important economic and social benefits. It delivers over £13 for every £1 invested, and acts as a powerful engine for national economic growth.
