NIHR Update: New NIHR funding calls open for NHS and wider care teams

Would you like to help those you care for take part in research that could benefit them?
NHS and wider care settings organisations are invited to apply for 2 new funding calls for 2027/28, offered by the NIHR (National Institute for Health and Care Research).
The funding calls aim to help improve access to research opportunities for health and care staff, and those they care for.
The 2 funding calls are for:
- Strategic Funding
- Wider Care Settings (WCS) Funding
Both funding calls also aim to support the delivery of the 3 government ‘shifts’ identified in their 10 Year Health Plan (hospital to community, analogue to digital, sickness to prevention).
Applications for both funding calls open from Tuesday 6 October 2026, and will close on Tuesday 17 November 2026.
