Getting there

On foot
You can walk to Sage Gateshead from Newcastle Central station within 20 minutes (0.7 miles), or we’re less than 10 minutes (0.6 miles) from Gateshead Metro station. Alternatively, enjoy a stroll along Newcastle’s Quayside and across one of the historic bridges over the River Tyne.  Remember, we’re on a hill so the last part of your walk here will be uphill unless you walk across the Tyne Bridge or High Level Bridge.

Plan your route by using the map at the bottom of this page.

By Metro
Sage Gateshead is situated on the south side of the River Tyne, 0.6 miles from Gateshead Metro Interchange.

Exit onto West Street. Turn left and walk down to the traffic lights. Turn right onto Askew Road, straight over the traffic lights at the end of the Tyne Bridge and then left at the next traffic lights onto Oakwellgate. Sage Gateshead is on your right. This walk takes about ten minutes.

You can also travel from Gateshead Metro to Sage Gateshead via the Quaylink bus, which runs from the Interchange to Sage Gateshead around every 15 minutes. The bus drops off and picks up near our West entrance.

All Quaylink buses have kneeling suspension and telescopic ramps for wheelchair access, and real time bus information is displayed at our West entrance and exit.

Please note no Metro trains will be running between Pelaw and South Shields until 4 December. Replacement bus services will be running between Heworth and South Shields.
